Side-by-Side
The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs that we test are side-byside models and they're generally best for kids who can sit up on their own because they tend to lack car seat integration. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double, and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double, are both excellent options. They offer recline adjustments for both seats, a large canopy, and padded five-point safety harnesses. These are also easy to move around despite their bigger footprint. They are ideal for parents who are worried about getting through doors.

The Cybex Duet is a little different due to its clever frame that expands widthways to add another seat, making it smaller than most other side-by-side pushchairs available. The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another excellent lightweight side-by-side double. It provides an even greater degree of customization due to a modular frame. It features a clever design that lets you transform it into a single stroller or a double by incorporating 2 carrycots or car seats (it can even take twins). If you're looking for a compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds down to the size of a compact suitcase. It can be used as a single or a double by adding two carrycots or infant car seats, and our home testers were awed by how simple and sleek it was to use, even when fully loaded with kids.
Side-by-side pushchairs that are lightweight aren't foolproof, though -- if your children are the same age or stage they may still fight over who is allowed to ride in which seat. If they are at different heights, then it is possible that a tandem design is best for them, as it lets them face each other.
Tandem
While side-byside models might be better suited for siblings with similar ages tandem pushchairs that are lightweight offer their own perks. Some can accommodate an extra car seat, while others have reversible seats. Some even come with an additional carrycot or reversible seat in the middle. They tend to be more spacious and easy to move into and out of however their baskets tend to be smaller than the ones on single buggies. Many have larger canopies, peekaboo windows and even padding for the leg cushions.
The iCandy Peach tandem is another great example of a lightweight tandem that offers an excellent value. Its fabric feels a bit less expensive than our other top-rated doubles however, it still looks and feels great and is very easy to use. One of the most impressive things about it is its single-handed fold. While it will require some practice, Kirstie in our Lab said it's "genius". It can't be folded with the carrycot attached however the mechanism for attaching and removing it is easy and quick.
Tandem strollers are light and lightweight. They usually make tighter turning than side-byside models. However, they can be more difficult to drive on uneven surfaces and curbs. They can also be slower to accelerate and more heavy to move. This can put stress on your back.
Another alternative is a convertible double buggy, that starts out as a single and then you can add adapters that turn it into a double. These can be placed in a row or joined to each other's faces and you can use them in conjunction with the baby car seat that is included with the pushchair (as as long as you choose a compatible one). These buggies with dual-use capabilities are made from high-quality materials that can be used for many years without showing any wear. This means that they have an excellent resale value.
Single-to-Double
This compact double buggy is made for families who love the outdoors and would like to upgrade from a single-stroller. It can be transformed into a jogger with a kit that includes air-filled tires and all-wheel-suspension. It can also withstand rough terrain well and, as a tandem triple, is perfect for twins or children of different ages. It's also a good choice for parents who are looking for an elegant design that's as elegant as a single and is available in a range of fabric colours.
We loved the way that this iCandy model folds into itself with a one-handed mechanism that's extremely easy to master. Although it's heavier than other single-to-double pushchairs featured in this review, home tester Karolina claimed that it feels extremely maneuverable, even with two toddlers and a carrycot in it.

This type of buggy has the greatest disadvantage of being wider than the side-by-side doubles. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways, and it isn't easy to maneuver up and down kerbs. However the suspension and wheels are generally able to are capable of coping with paved surfaces and the fact that they're generally much lighter than some of the side-by-sides, means you still have a decent amount of storage space. These strollers aren't easy to maneuver in supermarkets with narrow aisles, and they may struggle to carry a large amount. Although it's easier to turn the stroller on a narrow curved path, this can be a hassle. Some are more easy to turn than other, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.
Convertible
The great thing about convertible double pushchair s is that they can adapt to a family's changing requirements. Most of the time, they begin as single buggies, and come with adapters that allow you to add a second child's chair or a carrycot (in certain instances) the car seat to the frame. Some of them can be converted back to a single as your older child begins to walk or prefers to ride on buggy boards.

It is simple to maneuver due to its surprisingly low weight (about the weight of a few single pushchairs). double pram and pushchair mean that you can switch them around to face either way, and the clever way it connects a second seat or riding board to the rear is praised by many. Parents also appreciated the fact that it can accommodate infant carriers and car seat from multiple brands. This includes those that aren't normally compatible with other double buggies.
